This summer, we are delighted to see the return of our ‘Next Steps’ careers event, which will see recent leavers return to the School to talk to the current Sixth Form about university life, job prospects and careers. This will take place on the afternoon of Wednesday 10th June 2026.
For the event, we are looking to put together a panel of recent leavers to sit alongside the Head of Senior School, Mr Sansom, and answer questions from the current Sixth Form. The intention is that it again takes a Question Time format, with questions geared towards the first five years after students leave Sutton Valence.
As such, it is not so much a careers talk as a ‘Next Steps’ talk addressing areas such as what to expect at university, budgeting for university life, getting work experience etc. For those not considering university, we would look to include sections on apprenticeships and opportunities to go straight into work. The expectation is that the students will find recent OS (from the last 10 years) easier to relate to, given they may remember them from their younger years at School.
If you would like to get involved, please email development@svs.org.uk by Friday 17th April to confirm your availability. We look forward to hearing back from you.
