Due to the current circumstances, the decision was taken to cancel this year's planned Final Assembly, which itself was intended as a replacement for the already-cancelled Speech Day. In lieu of both events, the departing Headmaster, Mr Bruce Grindlay, recorded the following video as a farewell to the community he has led for the last 12 years.
To leave on such a note was perhaps appropriate given everything the School has endured over the last 16 months, but certainly not befitting of Bruce's overall tenure at the School. Leaving without the opportunity for the School community to properly thank him for all he has done feels a cruel denial, but one that was, sadly, necessary.
We wish him all the best as he prepares to make the move to Thailand later this summer. We would also like to thank the many of you whom provided messages for inclusion in his ‘Book of Thanks’. If you missed the opportunity to do so, but would still like to leave him a message, please email it through to development@svs.org.uk.
