We were delighted to be asked by the South East Reserve Forces' and Cadets' Association (SERFCA) to be a part of a film they are making to promote cadets’ associations within schools. As part of their visit to Sutton Valence School, SERFCA interviewed our Contingent Commander, Major Millbery, along with Pilot Officer Oliver (2011 C) and 2nd Lieutenant Sagrott (2013 F). Both are Old Suttonians who have returned to the School as members of staff and, as a result, have experienced the CCF as both cadets and Cadet Force Adult Volunteers (CFAVs).

Both Old Suttonians mentioned the positive impact that the CCF had on their time at the School, allowing them to develop important skills like teamwork, confidence and self-discipline. As NCOs, they served as Head of Juniors, working with new cadets in the Third Form to encourage the students’ engagement in the CCF. Having returned to the School as members of staff, Pilot Officer Oliver now leads our RAF section, whilst 2nd Lieutenant Sagrott serves in the Army section.
