It is with great sadness that the School has learned of the death of James Townley (1975 F). We are grateful to John Randolph (1975 F) for the following obituary:

"At School, he was a major presence within Founder's House and those who knew James will remember his loyalty, integrity, strength of character and above all, his friendship. Equally, he was a fine athlete and represented the School in many sports at all levels.

He spent most of his working life in the insurance business and stayed in touch with a number of Old Suttonians into later life. I last saw him at David Bunker (1954 M)'s wake and, as always, it was enjoyable to catch up with him and hear of his plans for the future, and his move to Trimley St Mary in Suffolk, where, after a short illness, he passed away on 20th May 2024.

He leaves his partner, Jo, and two children, Elizabeth and Max from a prior marriage to Amanda."
