The Annual .22 Sergison Shooting Competition between staff, pupils, parents and Old Suttonians took place at the School Range on Saturday 28th May. The event is named after a previous SSI, Jim Sergison (Staff 1951-1974), who was an enthusiastic supporter of the School Shooting team and who donated a weapon that was later made into the trophy we shoot for every year.

For the event, the first to be hosted in three years, over 40 members of the school community turned up to shoot. Along with the official competition, there were also individual and family competitions taking place.

The competition saw some excellent scores – the highest being a 96/100 achieved by Mr Wild (representing the parents' team) followed by a 95/100 from Daniel Wild (representing the pupils' team). The overall results were as follows:

  • Fourth Place – Old Suttonians
  • Third Place – Staff
  • Runners Up – Parents
  • Winners – Pupils

Many thanks to Mr Millbery for his organisation of the event, Mr and Mrs Palmer for the barbecue and catering, Mr Westlake and Mr Horley for running the range, Miss Oliver and Mrs Wood for their coaching and Mr Gossage for looking after the front of house. Of course, thanks also need to go to all of the parents, pupils and OS who turned up to make it a success.
