Last Friday saw the return of the Old Suttonians versus School Hockey Tournament on the School's newly-relaid AstroTurf. The players and spectators turned up raring to go, albeit wearing plenty of layers given the unseasonably cool weather. The teams were undeterred, however, and both games were played to an extremely high standard. The Alex Hatch Trophy was won by the School’s 1st XI (2-1), whilst the Old Suttonian Girls' Team were victorious and carried home the Susannah Townsend Trophy (3-2).
Following the matches everyone tucked into a delicious barbecue provided by the School's Catering team. This provided a fantastic opportunity for OS, parents and past parents to catch up with friends, fellow players and some new faces. The evening was such a great success that there was still a crowd huddled round the barbecue as darkness fell.
As well as all of the players and supporters who braved the cold, our thanks go to our team of officials for the evening - Rob Harrison (1987 F), Christopher Laird, Neil Richards (1967 F) and Charlie Ridge for their hard work across the two matches. Finally, thank you to the principal organisers – Mr Braddick and Miss Giddings from the School’s Sport department, as well as Old Suttonians Richard Young (1990 M), Ellie Sagrott (2013 F), Katie Latter (2016 F) and Annie Wilkinson (Staff 1984-2016).
