Last weekend, we were delighted to bring together members of the Old Suttonian community based in the US for a special alumni reunion in New York. Hosted at Lusardi’s restaurant on the Upper East Side, the evening was made possible with the generous help of Michael Darling (1979 L), who facilitated the arrangements.

The Headmaster, James Thomas, and Director of Admissions and Development, Will Radford, were joined by 12 Old Suttonians and their guests for a fantastic evening of conversation and reflection having reaqched the end of the School's 450th anniversary year. There was a real sense of community as attendees shared memories of their time at Sutton Valence and looked ahead to its future.

A particular highlight was the breadth of generations represented, with Old Suttonians ranging from a 1963 leaver through to a 2010 leaver. The opportunity to bring together Old Suttonians from such different eras demonstrated the enduring strength of the Sutton Valence community and the connections that continue long after leaving the School.

The evening also provided an opportunity to discuss how Old Suttonians in America might support the School and contribute to its future. Strengthening these international connections remains an important part of Sutton Valence’s alumni programme, and gatherings such as this provide a valuable opportunity to build relationships, share ideas and keep the Old Suttonian community connected to the School.

Our thanks go to everyone who joined us in New York, and especially to Michael Darling for facilitating such a memorable evening. We look forward to continuing to build on these connections and to welcoming more Old Suttonians to future events.
