As the first of the official 450th Anniversary year events, we were delighted to welcome over 80 guests to the opening of the Shaw Archive and OS Museum, this weekend. The ceremony was the culmination of a project to convert former staff accommodation (previously the Headmaster's Office) into a fantastic new archive celebrating the School's first 450 years.

It was fitting for the new facility to be named after Old Suttonian and former staff member Colin Shaw (1955 W, Staff 1971-1998), who served as the School's archivist prior to his death in 2011. We were pleased that Colin's daughters Clare (1998 V) and Amelia (1995 V) were present to officially open the building for us.

Following a drinks and canapé reception, guests explored the new facility and viewed an exhibition curated by our archivist, David Pickard (Staff 1977-2001, 2009-2015, 2025-).

The Shaw Archive is a wonderful addition to the School and will be available to students and the wider community for many years to come.
