Congratulations once again go to Old Suttonian Susannah Townsend (2007 G), who today added an Olympic Bronze Medal in Tokyo to the Gold Medal she won in Rio in 2016.
Back then, Susannah became the first Old Suttonian to win a gold medal when the GB Women’s Hockey team defeated the Netherlands in the final. Today she became the first two-time Old Suttonian Olympic medalist when the GB team overcame India in the Bronze Medal match; a truly outstanding achievement.
By competing as part of the GB Women’s Hockey team at this Games, Susannah also became only the third Old Suttonian to represent their country at multiple summer Olympiads - something previously only achieved by Ashley Jackson (2005 M) in Beijing 2008, London 2012 and Rio 2016 and Edgar Mountain (1919 W) in Antwerp 1920 and Paris 1924.
Susannah’s continued role at the core of the GB team is testament to both her ability and longevity and we are immensely proud of all that she has achieved.
